Memories that stay alive

When you open the link on the home page of MacDonald Studio Wedding Films website some questions pop up. How do you create a living memory? and How can you relive your greatest day?
The answer is of course by having the best wedding film available.

Now I am biased because I have worked with Rob MacDonald  on many occasions. We met on the morning of  a friends wedding and instantly we clicked. Creativity is Rob's middle name and there isn't much he can't do. His wedding films are always shot with such sincerity and style. It isn't any wonder he is in such high demand. Check out his website for more information and be prepared to be impressed I love the animation section too. http://www.macdonaldstudio.co.uk

I was so much so that I asked him to come up with my own showreel. Everything I asked for he delivered. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daxo2Y0YdJo

Award Winning Make-Up

I truly love what I do for a living and job satisfaction is the biggest boost. Whether I'm playing with products, writing my beauty news or making someone over. I get totally immersed in the task in hand. I'd be fibbing I said I don't get all goosy when my clients love what I create. It's always nice to be to add a smile to Mums, Grans and Besties and well as my brides. The look on their faces as they step in the mirror says it all.
There's also nothing better than when a  thank you card arrives from 'the happy couple' amongst the bills on a wet and windy morning. So imagine my surprise when I found out I was nominated for The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards - Make Up Specialist of the Year 2012. I didn't even know I had been entered. I was over the moon. I was even more thrilled when I won the title and picked up my award.Thank you to everyone who voted for me. So you see girls. You really are in safe hands when I create  your dream.

Until next time

MeMeMe for YouYouYou

Whatever the season a well moisturised skin is the first step in creating a flawless, long-lasting make up base. I've been a fan of MeMeMe Cosmetics for some time now. I love how they replicate the hero products from other high end brands like Bobbi Brown and Benefit. If you don't know what I mean just check out their version of the Shimmer Brick and the Poppy Tint. Uncanny. Lately I'm loving their Moisturising Face Base. It's a rich face cream rich in Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Beta-Carotene and really nourished and primes skin for make up application. Skin is left luminous and foundation glides on effortlessly. Wake up your make up this winter with this dreamy cream. £15.00

Ibiza Rocks

I would go to the ends of the earth in the quest to give my brides their picture perfect make up, well Ibiza to be exact. My friend Mickey and his fiancee and fellow beauty queen Deborah celebrated their wedding on the party island recently and I was thrilled to be asked to create Deborah's dream make up look. Debs is naturally pretty and again my job wasn't that difficult. Champers at a Villa in the Ibiza hills, sunning on the deck in between faces and some party anthems before we headed to the idyllic Amante Beach Club for the ceremony. It was an amazing time and I can't wait to see the official pictures.  I'll upload some make up shots when they arrive.

When designing the make up for the day,  I took inspiration from the location. Deborah's bridesmaids were  in Coral and I wanted to work up a look that was be achy, sun-kissed and looked effortless. I blended three cream eyeshadows and two powders to get the exact shade and look. At night when it was time for the after party, I darkened Deb's eye make up down by adding a black shadow shot with a golden shimmer and added a gold sparkle liquid liner from Illamasqua. Party Time.

Once upon a time......

Every wedding day is magical and what bride doesn't want to look and feel like a princess? So when the venue is booked, the glass slippers have been bought and the tiara has been ticked off the list it's onto favours. But where to start?

Now love it or loathe it, themes are big and if you fancy your very own fairytale ending then check out Caesars Wedding Favours.

With wrap around napkin rings that can be personalised for you and your Prince Charming as well as some cute carriages to top off your    table there is also a selection of fairytale favours like these castle bookmarks.  Fit for a fairytale. Let's just hope the prince doesn't turn into a frog!

Happy as McClardy

I've been a family friend of the Baker's for years. There's a team of them to say the least so when I wasnt going to say no when my friend Stacey asked me to be the make up artist for her sister Kelly's wedding. Of course I was thrilled.  "she wont have anyone else and will change the date if you are not available'' It was firm, but I was flattered. That's Stacey for you. Straight to the point.

We had a lovely morning getting the soon to be Mrs McClardy ready for her trip down the aisle.  and started on the fizz around lunchtime. Not only had I Kelly's make up to do but I agreed to pin up her hair too. Normally I don't do hair on the 'big day' but again big sister Stacey insisted.

Kelly basically gave complete freedom the go-ahead to create a look for her  " do what you think will work with my dress Craig " she said. So I did. A gorgeous glam and woven top knot added some old style Hollywood glam and was complemented buy a rich gold and chocolate brown smouldering eye looked great against the cool blue tones of her diamante earrings. Perfect for a winter wedding.

Photographing the event was Nicky Cooney, another family friend who specialises in portraits. This was her first wedding and I have to say, what an amazing job. Here are a couple of pics from the day. I cant wait to see the rest. Don't keep me waiting too long now Nicky.
